Chasing Dementia is COMING SOON!

Welcome! You've just landed in a friendly, supportive corner of the internet that's open to anyone who is reeling from the news of their loved one's diagnosis of Alzheimer's or other form of dementia.

Let me help you move from panic to peace in this challenging season of life.

Hi, there! I'm Francey, and I'm creating this website as a way to partner with the loved ones and caregivers of people with dementia.

My mother's journey with dementia began several years ago, and since then, I've felt an increasing desire to help others who are dealing with all those early-on unknowns. Chasing Dementia will be a gathering place for practical tips, curated information and education, and (especially!) gentle encouragement.

Since you're reading this, you must know someone, maybe someone really close to you, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, dementia with Lewy-bodies (also called Lewy-body dementia), or another form of this devastating condition.

Do you feel completely unprepared? I did (and I was).

The truth is, I never imagined my mother would have Alzheimer's disease. It caught me completely off-guard, and I never really caught up.

I still remember the feeling of panic bubbling up inside of me at the moment I realized something was seriously wrong with my mom. Every time a new problem cropped up, the panic would bubble up, as well. I didn't even know what I didn't know, and it was easy to lose heart.

I don't want that for you, so I hope you can feel how pleased I am that you're here. I believe I can help, and I consider it a privilege to come alongside you (internet-style) as you navigate the challenges ahead. And, as I look back on my own experiences, I have to say, there was a lot to navigate!

It felt like I was chasing a very energetic butterfly through rush-hour traffic while wearing roller skates three sizes too big for me. Off-balance and slip-slidin' all the way.

The good news is, you can find peace in this season. The dementia journey is hard, but it's easier together.

The Bible tells us that when we walk along with someone else, we can help each other get back on our feet if we stumble (check out Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). Consider this your offer to join me here -- hopefully on a regular basis.

We won't catch the butterfly, but we can keep the weeds out of its garden and cheer each other on as we remember what matters most. (I'll talk more about that when we're up and running.)

See you soon!

Before you go, sign up here to join my email list and the Chasing Dementia community.

You'll also be one of the first to know when the website goes live!
